Kodama laboratory provides cutting-edge technology on research to the globe, contributing to improve the future of environment.

The research motivation is to develop a CCS (Carbon-dioxide Capture and Storage) process using engineering technology to reduce the emission of CO2. We are developing and evaluating of CO2 absorbents now. The physical properties of mixtures including supercritical fluids are investigated, developed the energy-saving process for CCS. Furthermore, thermodynamic properties such as Ionic Liquids which are becoming well known recently.

Our goal is to develop a new technology to capture CO2,
avoiding the most disruptive impacts of global warming.

Our research program "Construction of CO2 physical absorption process using Ionic Liquids" has been selected to be a new project under Funding Program for Next Generation World-Leading Researchers (NEXT Program), which is implemented under the Leading-edge Research Promotion Fund established within the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). This program provides a research-support system for researchers expected to have the potential to be world leaders in their respective fields of science and technology. So as to sustain Japan's growth by exploiting its national strengthens and capacities, selected research themes were advanced in fields of "Green Innovation" and "Life Innovation" (excerpts from JSPS website).
